Captain Jacks Seafood - Halibut

Captain Jacks Seafood Locker, Seward Alaska. I am a tough one when it comes to Seafood of any kind. Grocery store Seafood is very hit and miss, most of the time it’s a miss. I mean miss in terms of the dreaded “Fishy” taste, which is awful.

If you are looking for Alaska Seafood, then please make sure you order from an online company that is actually in Alaska. There are companies in the lower 48 that claim to be Alaskan Seafood companies, while they do source from Alaska they are not located in Alaska.

I am pleased to announce that Captain Jacks is located in Alaska, Seward specifically.

I primarily order a couple of times a year, New Years for Alaskan King Crab. Summer for Sockeye and Halibut.

Captain Jacks is awesome, great shipping, great fresh seafood, and the packaging is spot on. Arrives frozen, vacuum packed and ready for your freezer. Their site is a bit dated and clunky but workable or you can always call them directly. We hope to see any update to their site in the near future.

The Food – Halibut Steaks

Let’s just focus on the Halibut today. Not going to mislead you here, this food is pricey but worth the extra effort and cost to order.

The Halibut steaks are generous enough for two unless you are very hungry. The taste and quality is “top notch”, and it should be for the premium. For this quality you are going to pay $35-$40 per pound. I said it was premium and pricey. For example a 10 lb Halibut pack is $389.99.

Cooking options are up to you, you know what you like. The fish is tender, moist, just delicious. Just cooking and enjoy with your favorite Seafood side.
